The flexibility of combined online and campus-based learning to achieve your goals…

Why study on a blended learning course?

Blended learning provides the flexibility to balance your studies with other commitments. It allows you to access course materials and engage in learning activities at your own pace and convenience, whether it’s in the evenings, at weekends or while travelling.

It provides opportunities for personalised learning experiences, allowing you to tailor your learning to your specific needs and learning style. You can review and revisit learning content as needed and reinforce your learning through practice and feedback. Engaging with digital tools during a blended learning course promotes the development of essential digital literacy and technical skills.

What can I expect?

The number of live classroom sessions (either on-campus or online) will vary from course to course. However, all blended learning courses will begin with an on-campus induction session, which will give you the opportunity to meet your teacher and other learners on your course. Watch this video to find out more.

Is it right for me?

When deciding to enrol on a blended learning course, you need to consider a number of factors:

Am I self-motivated?

A high degree of self-motivation is required, as you must take the initiative to complete your work in your own time.

Am I organised?

You need to be organised and able to manage your time effectively.

Can I use technology?

You need to be able to use a computer or laptop, navigate the internet and use software applications and online learning platforms.

Do I have good communication skills?

Good communication skills are important for interactions with teachers and other learners on your course.

Am I adaptable?

You will need to be able to adapt to different learning activities and methods of communication on a blended learning course.

Technical Requirements

For a blended learning course, you will need the following:

–  A relatively modern PC or laptop with a microphone and camera (webcam). The PC or laptop must be capable of running MS Windows 10 and MS Office;

–  A good broadband connection. We recommend a minimum connection speed of 3Mbps (megabits per second);

–  An internet browser – MS Edge v77 or above installed.

To take part in a blended learning course, you will need to bring your own device. However, if you are unable to access a device for your course, you may be eligible for the device loan scheme; more information can be found on the Learner Supports page of this website.

Note: While mobile devices, especially smartphones, are convenient and may be used for many course activities, we do not recommend using them as your primary device for completing your blended learning course.
