A creative producer is involved in every aspect of bringing a great story to life through film. From conception to development, funding, pre-production, filming, post-production, release and distribution.

Our Introduction to Creative Producing for Film course is a joint initiative between Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board and Innovate Limerick through Film in Limerick. This pilot initiative will equip you with a rounded set of skills to begin your journey as a Creative Producer. This fully-funded 5-month course is delivered part-time online on weekday evenings, with some weekend workshops, and will give you an introduction to the script to screen process.

Introduction to Creative Producing for Film

QQI Level 5 Minor Award in Multimedia Project Development

This 5-month part-time programme will take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings online, with some Saturday workshop sessions. The programme is fully-funded and will give would-be creative producers who have an interest in working on TV series and feature films the chance to showcase and develop their talents.

You will be led by Oscar-winning producer John McDonnell whose credits include ‘Vivarium’ starring Jesse Eisenberg and Irish language film ‘Arracht’.

Focus will be placed on developing crucial production skills including script-editing, funding schemes for shorts and first features, budgeting and scheduling, production, legal issues, distribution, preparing projects for financing, introduction to filmmakers and pitching, to name just a few.

Progression / Employment Opportunities

On successful completion, you will receive a QQI Level 5 Minor Award in Multimedia Project Development. Not only will you gain a foundation in the script-to-screen process, you will also acquire the skills needed to produce a funded short at a high level. This will place you in a strong position to prepare your own projects for financing, work in a production company or further your learning.
