The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) requires all new buildings from 2021 to be nearly zero-energy buildings (NZEB). This directive requires all construction professionals to adhere to the NZEB standard and to undergo upskilling to meet the requirements of the sustainable building agenda.
Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board is offering a number of training programmes designed to empower you with knowledge of the principles and practices required to meet the NZEB standard.
Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) Fundamental Awareness (City & Guilds Assured)
On this 1-day programme, delivered at our College of Further Education and Training Centre, NZEB and Retrofitting Centre of Excellence, Roxboro, Limerick, V94C66H you will discover the principles and practices of Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB). You will explore NZEB principles, building physics, fabric and services, renewable energy, photovoltaics, smart metering and more.

On this 2-week programme, delivered at our Green Innovation Campus, Roxboro, Limerick, you will learn how to insulate a building using best practices. This includes internal, external, floor and roof insulation. You will also learn how to make a building airtight to minimise unwanted energy losses.

This programme is compulsory within the context of the Specific Purpose Certificate in Construction Skills for Energy Conservation. This programme is aimed at experienced construction workers seeking to transition their offering to include EWI. Upon completing this fully-funded programme, you will receive a QQI Level 5 Minor Award in External Wall Insulation.

City & Guilds Assured
This course provides you with the knowledge and skills required to effectively design ventilation flowrates, install ventilation systems and commission ventilation systems, in accordance with Technical Guidance Document Part F 2019. It is delivered three half-days online and one day of theory and assessment onsite at our College of Further Education and Training, Green Innovation Campus, Roxboro, Limerick, V94 03H9.
Certification and Progression
This is a CIF approved course. Upon successful completion, you will receive a City & Guilds Assured Certification in Ventilation. You can use this as proof of competency in ventilation systems installation, balancing and commissioning as required by TGD Part F 2019.
