Youth Education and Training incorporates Youthreach (delivered in our multi-campus College of FET locations and in Community Training Centres) and youth-related co-operation hours.
Youthreach is intended for unemployed early school leavers aged 15 to 20 years (16 to 21 years in the case of Community Training Centres). It is an integral part of the national provision of second-chance education and training in Ireland. This provision operates on a full-time basis, providing participants with opportunities to identify and pursue viable options within adult life.
Youthreach has a continuous intake policy. It provides young people with a flexible and dynamic system of integrated general education, vocational training and work experience.
You can apply for Youthreach at any time of the year.
This provision is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union.
We provide a rich and exciting mix of educational provision and recreational activities. As well as the usual subjects, our centres offer young people options such as: computers, personal development, work experience and sport. Our learners also go on work placements and make links with local businesses. Summer provision includes outings and outdoor pursuits.
There are no costs for participating in Youthreach provision. If you are 16 years of age or more you will receive a weekly training allowance, a meal allowance and a travel and childcare allowance (if applicable) while attending. Our provision is full-time and operates all year round.
Youthreach provision is offered at eight of our College of Further Education and Training campuses in the region, as well as two Community Training Centres, including:
