About Our Supports

At our College of Further Education and Training campuses, we are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible environment for all. If you have a disability, health condition, or learning difficulty, we’re here to help you.

Our goal is to ensure that every learner has equal access to education, training, and the opportunities to succeed. From assistive technology and tailored learner resources to guidance counselling and workshops, we’ll work with you to put the right supports in place.

Who Can Access Supports?

    • Physical or sensory disabilities
  • Specific learning difficulties (e.g., dyslexia, dyspraxia)
  • Mental health conditions
  • Autism spectrum conditions
  • Ongoing medical conditions
We welcome everyone —including adults with disabilities, carers, minority ethnic groups, ESOL and migrant learners, and those from low-income backgrounds.

What Supports Are Available?

  • Accessible learning materials (large print, digital, audio)
  • On-course learning support (study skills, reading, writing, maths, computer skills, English language)
  • Reasonable exam accommodations (extra time, reader/scribe, separate room)
  • Assistive technology (screen readers, magnifiers, dictation software)
  • Device loan scheme (laptops or assistive technology)
  • Note-taking, ISL interpretation, personal assistants (where possible)
  • Guidance counselling (from entry to progression or employment)
  • Confidential counselling (psychological and wellbeing supports)
  • Drop-in and group sessions (peer support and workshops)
  • Campus navigation and accessible facilities

Note: Some of our campuses are older, historical buildings where access may be difficult. We are committed to working with you to find solutions and ensure your needs are met.

How to register

Registering is confidential, accessible, and easy. Early registration ensures supports are in place when you need them!

Needs Assessment

Meet with the Disability Officer/ Learning Hub Team or Guidance Counsellor for a confidential needs assessment. This results in a Learning Educational Needs Summary (LENS) Report.

Agree Your Support Plan

Your supports are tailored to your needs and, with your consent, shared with relevant staff.

Key Date: To guarantee exam accommodations, please register and complete your needs assessment at least six weeks before the exam period.

All information that you provide is completely confidential. With your permission, information regarding your requirements will be sent to relevant people who can provide you with the supports required. The service will not divulge the nature of your requirements with anyone. In the case of medical alert conditions such as epilepsy we will expect that you allow us to make people aware with your permission. This is for your own health and wellbeing.
